Tallis Fashion Show - Abstract Couture
This year students in Design Technology helped our friends in Art prepare for the annual Thomas Tallis fashion show. We had had 8 different classes from Year 7-10 working collaboratively on creating Kandinsky inspired backdrops for the catwalk.
Year 7 students started off by planning out the abstract shapes in different colours on the computer software 2D design. Their designs were printed and used as maps for students in other classes to mask and paint several overlapping layers. It has been brilliant to see a mix of year groups showcasing the Tallis Habits through their disciplined and persistent approach to getting the job done! We managed to shoot some great time lapse videos that show the flurry of activity in classrooms around the DT block.
The Year 9 Food Technology group have also been very busy preparing for the catering of the fashion show. Brightly coloured abstract inspired canapés have been researched, designed and batch produced to serve the fashion show guests on both evenings. The students have thoroughly enjoyed responding to a real client brief and catering for such large numbers.
A huge thank you to all of the students and staff who were involved in the fashion show preparation. We look forward to finding out Miss Braden's theme for next year's show and rolling up our sleeves once again!
